Prison Fellowship Rwanda has embarked on an exciting new partnership with Alpha International!
The Alpha Course provides an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting through group discussion sessions. Alpha is currently operating in over 30,000 courses in 163 countries, supported by all the major Christian denominations. The Alpha Course is designed primarily for people who aren’t churchgoers, and each course is open for anyone. Alpha for Prisons was launched in 1995 in response for demands from inmates and has grown to be present in over 74 countries.
Prison Fellowship Rwanda and Alpha International organized a Global Alpha Training for Prisons from January 14th through the 20th that took place in the city of Kigali and also the Northern Province of Rwanda, in Ruhengeri. The purpose of this training program was to train approximately 80 delegates to promote Alpha teaching in Rwandan prisons through evangelism, discipleship, and Biblical foundations. Most of those who underwent the training will run Alpha programs in Rwandan prisons.
Prison Fellowship Rwanda is thrilled to be joining together with Alpha to provide an open setting where Rwandan inmates can learn about the Christian faith in a non-threatening setting. PFR will keep its supporters up-to-date when the Alpha Program launches in the prisons!
