PFR Richly Blessed to Receive Missions Teams and Supporters from Overseas

In the months of March and April, the PFR staff welcomed many guests and supporters to Rwanda: Members of the Mustard Seed Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the children of Pastor Deo’s Street Children and Youth Ministry (SCYM); Nancy Strachan, a faithful supporter of PFR programs and founding director of RwandanHUGS; Doug and Sue Minson, wonderful friends and supporters of PFR who continue to raise awareness about PFR programs in the USA and funds to send street youth to vocational school; and Gerrit Wolfaardt, a pastor from South Africa and founding director of The Word for All Nations, a non-profit organization.

These supporters were a blessing and encouragement to PFR’s ministry in the prisons, Reconciliation Villages, HIV/AIDS Women’s Cooperative, and programs for children and youth. Their visit was a great gesture of dedication to PFR’s mission. They returned to the USA with renewed knowledge and dedication to the people of Rwanda, and we are grateful to them as they continue to keep in touch with us and create avenues of support for us.

Members of the Mustard Seed Project team ventured to the Reconciliation Villages to connect with villagers, assess needs, and participate in village life. They also spent time with the children and youth of Pastor Deo’s ministry to street children and youth, singing, dancing, taking photos, popping popcorn, encouraging the children and youth, and sharing the Word of God. [Laura Waters, traveling with the Mustard Seed Project team, talks with some young teen women who participate in Pastor Deo's Street Children and Youth Ministry (SCYM). Laura is now working hard in the USA to raise awareness and generate funds for the program.]

Nancy Strachan traveled to many corners of Rwanda during her visit. She spent time in the villages and with the children, and she worked hard prior to her trip to raise funds to donate 60 goats to the inhabitants of Mbyo Reconciliation Village, presented in a very memorable dedication ceremony held in retired Bishop John Rucyahana’s honor.

Thanks to Doug and Sue M
inson, PFR’s first intake of 15 vocational training students from the SCYM program celebrated their graduation in a ceremony at the PFR office. They are shown in this second photo conferring a graduation certificate to one of the young men who completed the program in April.

Gerrit Wolfaardt was a welcomed visitor in the prisons, where he delivered encouraging words to the inmates during the genocide commemoration time, observed every April in Rwanda. He was also a welcomed visitor among the street children and youth and in the Reconciliation Villages, where he shared from the Word. Pastor Wolfaardt recently raised funds to dedicate 60 goats to inhabitants of PFR’s Reconciliation Village in Musanze. We are so blessed by his support.
